Wowee...definitely getting more digitally fluent..

Wednesday 23 May

How are you using the digital technology intentionally to feel creative and to be able to learn... To engage with the curriculum and making the best use of technology.

create : allowing our young people to be creative beings that was not part of the traditional learning in the classroom….to give the learners the opportunity to share their learning by using digital technology.

The 6 C’s of education:
Character
Citizenship
Communication
Creativity
Collaboration
Critical thinking
From this: creativity provides the avenue for EXPRESSION
You need to be able to learn, unlearn and relearn...learning is now fluid and changing
Sight, sound and motion...keywords for creativity and sharing learning
Rewindable resource…

Kent:

It is more important the we as teachers need to be creative, more creative than our students...so they don’t want to exit out of your “boring” website….be creative!!

How to : Live stream (add your own content...and to create content)

3 ways:

https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1wr_mpHZg_gPCm5ejA7C5x4ynbtW_N396T20PvyVv1nQ/edit?usp=sharing

1. Using a full HD camera (camcorder) CANON Legria HF G40: film the school news of the day

Teradek: VidiU Pro (attach to any camera, and life streaming on the spot...camera has got a SD card as well) ($1200) and can go to multiple platforms (facebook, Youtube, etc...simultaneously)

YouTube live (students create something not only because the teacher says so, but NOW because they will have a live audience...example writing a blog of a book that student read, and the author responded...wow) (live locally, participate globally) (you should be successful by staying locally, but sharing globally)

(Unlisted mean you can’t find it, unless you have the link; public it can be found by anyone)

2. Using a laptop Webcam:
  • Using YouTube

3. Using a drone
Drone ( cross country, rugby training etc)
DJI  Spark drone
($800...through warehouse was $300)
Can be programmed via the student’s chromebooks...angles, direction, create amazing maths learning rotations all through coding

Process of YouTube:  Consume ... create ... share (live streaming)

Keep it simple; make your own template

Embrace blank slides; talk about it, don’t read off it
Make your own formats; your own design

The life as a digitally challenged teacher...

So am I digital fluent after my FIRST day?

Maybe not in your eyes....but certainly in mine!!

Definitely more fluent than this morning!!  YAY YAY ✌

I've learnt such A LOT....like the smarties advert in SOUTH AFRICA...at the side of the box it says: WOTALOTIGOT...

I was so scared at the start, thinking that I will not be able to cope BUT...Dorothy Burt very quickly put this to bed with the words:  "relax...we will break up into three groups...level one: will be the group, if you need the learning of the morning to be repeated, you can go to  this group with Donna, and ask questions and help, and to make sure that you can really ensure that you have learnt how to...

What a beautiful name....Manaiankalani...the hook from heaven!

When we look at the table at the top:
I learned the names of my fellow students, and where they are from...so nice to get to know NEW people.

Part 1:

Use google save….

(set up tags: math 9R or L3 3.9 etc)...get permission from JONO KBE; sent email to Debbie Russell) if your save has disappeared look for it in FAVOURITES as it defaults to favourites. I’ve also sent an email to New Era IT support...thanks to our wonderful office manager this problem was sorted and I now know how to use google save.
Part 2:
Google drive:
Like a set of russian dolls that fill into each other…
Need to be in neat folders...your drive is like your office desk….put a professional photo in your profile photo.
Good idea to put all the work in YEAR folders….2017….2018
Part 3:
copy and paste from google chrome:
(you set yourself up for an ugly page)
Edit:  paste without  formatting….control shift V
Part 4:
View:  show document outline
Insert:  bookmark click on link
How to insert back to the top:

To insert photos
Click at the bottom (cross or plus) is the explore button
Or insert-  image -click camera

For voice typing:
Tools click on voice typing….works best when talking in a box...put chromebook in a box..

What I liked most:
The fact that we could split up into groups, according to our needs, after lunch, to either practice

or to learn more...loved it.

and the positive encouragement...and not ONCE did I feel stupid.
