How does trust happen
watch the video : how does trust happen in music
This reminds me of myself as a math teacher:
HOW DOES TRUST HAPPEN IN THE MATHEMATICS CLASS?
ASK the students:
feedback here:
trust is like holding a small bird in your hand...IF you hold it to tightly, you will crush it, if you hold it too lightly, it will fly away. A fine balance. I belief in this: For the first, however many days it take, establish a relationship with your students. Show them who you are, what you belief in, and that you care about them. Be strict, but kind...a fine balance.
If my students don't trust me, how can they learn from me, trust me to guide them through this learning journey?

Trust not always work in a logical way, people tend to go with "gut" feeling, someone like us, tends to get our trust easier, than someone that is not "like" us.
If students see that you adapt your style to your learning, you will instantly earn their trust.
My first questions on the white board are always:
1. how do I learn?
2. what do I expect from my maths teacher?
3. how do I feel about group work.
then I always spend 10 minutes on setting their mathematics goal(s) for the new year.
This is always the first step to building / developing TRUST.
